Some people think we are crazy purchasing our very first home at middle age, but it’s been a life long dream for both of us. My husband is a retired Master Chief and served in the Navy for 22 years. He flew literally all over the world and was stationed in various locations, but never owned his own home. Our home is modest and needs lots of TLC, but to us, it is a palace.
We had just moved from PA to CO and were anxious to get settled in. We were given an amazing opportunity with the VA to secure a home loan with no money down and an amazing interest rate! It was a long process lasting almost a year, but here we are, family of 3 about to be 4, and in our first home! At the beginning of our home loan process, our credit needed “tweaking” and constant perseverance. I worked with the department of secondary approval and they helped me raise my score and coach me on how to fix our debt problems. They were all so helpful, and always had the time to take my calls. When the time came to get preapproved the process was fast and mostly painless! We closed on the house of our dreams and are so thankful that we were able to take advantage of all of the wonderful opportunities that the Va has to offer. We would highly recommend the VAMortgage center to anyone who is interested in purchasing a home. We love our country and I will continue to serve with honor until retirement. I can’t imagine ever needing a house better than the one we got, but if that day ever comes, I would be thrilled to work with all those who helped make our dreams come true. Thanks again!
