First, I would like to truly thank the team that made it happen for me to purchase my first multi-family home and major investment. I still can’t believe at times that I own a huge home with so much potential. My family and I are very thankful. The home-buying process at times was challenging. Fortunately, my loan officer Jon McCarty and his team worked extremely hard from start to finish. Patience and persistence always pay off at the end. Thank you for making one of my dreams come true. My loan officer always states on his e-mail “Proudly serving those who serve us.” I am very proud for serving this country and very fortunate that you have proudly served my family and I. VA Mortgage Center, you rock!!

I am a WWII Navy Armed Guard Veteran and sailed the South Pacific on four different ships during my time in the service.  Originally from Freeman, a small town in south-eastern South Dakota, I enlisted at the age of 19.  I met my future wife in Auckland New Zealand in May 1944 and we were married on a Friday 13th October that same year.   In 1946 my wife and son Glynn sailed to the States with 1,000 warbrides and came to South Dakota where we farmed for nine years.  We raised our first six children there, then moved to Anaheim, California in February 1956 where our seventh child was born.  With this large family I decided to apply for a VA Loan and our family moved into a four bedroom house within a short time.
At that time I put $250 down of which I received $50 back, and the payments were $79.50 per month which included loan payment, taxes and insurance.   Because I worked in law enforcement and the department was in another city, I was required to live within their city, so we sold our house.
In 1991 through 2009 we spent five months during the summer in South Dakota and since our son Glynn who is a Vietnam Vet, lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, we decided to buy a home there.   After several months of thorough frustration, cash offers, and short sales, we decided to try for a VA Loan.  With Winsor Cooper of VA Mortgage here in Las Vegas, we finally found what we think, is the perfect home for us, a five bedroom home in the south-west section of Las Vegas.  We received the key to the house at 5 pm November 20th and our beds and a sofa arrived at 7 pm that same night.

In closing, I am 87 years of age and my wife is 85 and we recently celebrated our 65th wedding anniversary.   I wonder how many other veterans apply for a VA Loan at that age?

We would like to also sincerely thank our realtor, Marta Jones-Carmody of Coldwell Banker Premier Realty here in Las Vegas, who for six months previewed potential homes for us, submitted numerous offers on our behalf before becoming successful.

Winsor was always accessible within a reasonable amount of time.  He answered all our questions and treated us with respect.

We chose VAMC because a friend had recommended VAMC and we had further checked them out on the computer.
We would recommend VAMC to other veterans who are seeking help with their VA Loans.
